Just an hour’s drive away, you can reach the famous Plateau de Valensole, where the vast expanses of lavender offer a breathtaking spectacle, especially in July when the flowers are in full bloom. The Luberon, with its fields dotted between vineyards and olive groves, is also within easy reach, offering dreamy panoramas and hiking trails amidst unspoilt nature.   Where can you admire the lavender fields? A veritable showcase of natural beauty, these purple expanses stretch across the varied landscapes of Provence, from the Drôme Provençale to the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.   Northwards of La MirandeThe Plateau d’Albion: located in Haute-Provence, between Mont Ventoux, the Montagne de Lure and the Luberon. The village of Sault stands on a rocky spur at an altitude of 760 metres, surrounded by lavender fields as far as the eye can see. We recommend you take one of the many walking or cycling tours, meet the local producers, visit the farms or the pretty village shops. The lavender festival is held every year on 15 August in Sault. The Drôme ProvençaleLavender fields are often surrounded by wooded hills and old stone farmhouses, offering a more intimate, less touristy setting. A visit to the medieval village of Grignan and its château, where the Countess de Sévigné lived, is a must see.   Eastwards of La MirandeThe plateau of Claparèdes in the LuberonAnother great place to see lavender in flower is in the hilltop villages of the Luberon, such as Gordes and Roussillon. These lavender fields are located on magnificent country roads that wind between the various hilltop villages of Provence. The Plateau de Valensole: located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, this plateau is one of the most emblematic places to admire lavender fields. A remarkable site between the Luberon and Verdon, truffles, honey, olives, almonds and lavender follow the rhythm of the seasons. The Angelvin family welcomes you to discover the lavender tradition through a presentation of their farm and a visit to their distillery.   Lavender season Lavender generally flowers in Provence between mid-to-late June and early August, with the best period being around mid-July. It is during these few weeks that the fields reach their peak of beauty. Many festivals and markets are then held to celebrate lavender, such as the Lavender Festival in Valensole, where you can watch distillation demonstrations, sample local products and even take part in workshops. Lavender is harvested around 15 July on the plateau of Valensole , and later in the Luberon and Drôme regions further north, until mid-August around Sault.   Lavender tour in Provence and an unforgettable stay A stay at La Mirande is a unique experience where history, culture and luxury come together to offer a timeless interlude.
